The city of Zürich lies in the heart of Europe and at the center of Switzerland, on the northern shores of Lake Zürich. The Schanzengraben, former military defense system, now offers an idyllic, green, marked with historical plaques promenade through the middle of the city from the train station to the lake. The proximity to the water produce a distinctive architectural design. The promenade leads finally to the lake outlet at Bürkliplatz.
