Le parc de l'Elfenau est un petit parc idyllique au cœur de la ville de Bienne agrémenté d'un étang et de beaux parterres fleuris. Assis sur l'un des jolis bancs en bois, vous pouvez vous évader du quotidien pendant quelques instants. Les habitants de la ville quant à eux viennent y passer leur pause-déjeuner, profiter du calme et se détendre à l'ombre des arbres. Le parc est également le domicile de nombreux canards et paons.

The city of Havana was founded by the Spanish in the 16th century and due to its strategic location it served as a springboard for the Spanish conquest of the continent becoming a stopping point for the treasure-laden Spanish galleons on the crossing between the New World and the Old World. Contemporary Havana can essentially be described as three cities in one: Old Havana, Vedado and the newer suburban districts. The city is the center of the Cuban government, and home to various ministries, headquarters of businesses and over 90 diplomatic offices.

The River Thièle, or Thielle, in german Zihl, is a tributary to the Aare River, in the Swiss Seeland. The Thielle results from the merging of the river Orbe and river Talent, northeast of the little city of Orbe in the Swiss Canton of Vaud. It flows as a channel northeastwards through an intensively cultivated plain called "Plaine de l'Orbe" and flows after only 9 km into the Lake of Neuchâtel at Yverdon-les-Bains. The natural course of the river was considerably modified during the Jura water correction. Between the Lakes of Neuchâtel and Biel/Bienne it was converted into a dug-out channel. However, the previous natural bed of La Thielle still exists in some parts. The river flows out of the lake in Biel/Bienne and after 2 km merges directly into the Nidau-Büren channel, which was also dug out during the Jura water correction, ensuring the outflow of River Aare, just before the regulating dam in Port which was commissioned in 1939. The Nidau-Büren Canal is a 12 km long canal that drains the waters of the Aare River out of the Lake of Biel/Bienne toward Solothurn. It was dug as an important part of the first Jura water correction. A temporary dam had been built across the Nidau-Büren channel, in order to maintain the water level in the lake. Of insufficient retaining capacity, another one was erected in 1887 that also showed its limits, especially during a flood in 1910. Soon, the cantons of Vaud, Neuchâtel and Fribourg required its replacement, but it was only modified in 1911 and 1915. Finally, the building of the new regulating dam was started in Port in 1936, and it was completed and commissioned in 1939 and has been daily in use ever since. The dam includes a 12 by 25 metres (39 ft × 82 ft) lock that is large enough for tour boats that run between Biel and Solothurn. In 1995 a hydroelectric plant was added to the lock. This plant, located near Brügg produces an average of 25 Million Kilowatt-hours per year.

The borough, which was created in 1990, got its name from the Zeeburgerdijk (Zeeburg dike) and the Zeeburgereiland (Zeeburg island) which lie in the centre of the borough. The Zeeburgerdijk is named after the fort ‘Seeburg’ which in the 17th century was part of the dike that protected land from the Zuiderzee. This dike connected Amsterdam and Muiden and was the only land route to Naarden before the Watergraafsmeer was drained. From the end of the 19th century, with the construction of the Oostelijk Havengebied (Eastern Harbour) and the residential Indische Buurt, the area has slowly become part of the city. For the 1928 Summer Olympics, its shooting range was used for the shooting part of the modern pentathlon events.

The Eastern Docklands (Dutch: Oostelijk Havengebied) is a neighborhood of Amsterdam, Netherlands, located between the IJ and the Amsterdam–Rhine Canal in the borough of Amsterdam-Oost. The harbor area was constructed in the late nineteenth century to allow for increasing trade with the Dutch East Indies; a new location was necessitated by the construction of the Amsterdam Centraal railway station, which replaced the old quays. East of the new station was a marshy area called De Rietlanden, with the Zeeburgerdijk (then called Sint Antoniesdijk), running via the Zeeburch, a fort, to the Zuiderzee. The neighborhood consists of the districts: KNSM Island, Java-eiland, Oostelijke Handelskade, Cruquiuseiland, Borneo-eiland and Sporenburg. Le Piet Heinkade est une avenue d'Amsterdam située au cœur du Oostelijk Havengebied, dans l'arrondissement de Centrum. Il fut baptisé en 1919 en l'honneur de l'officier de marine néerlandais Piet Hein (1577-1629), vice-amiral de la Compagnie néerlandaise des Indes occidentales. Depuis la réhabilitation du quartier dans les années 1990, l'avenue fait office d'axe de circulation principal dans une zone qui abrite aujourd'hui plusieurs hôtels de luxe, le Muziekgebouw aan 't IJ ainsi que le Passenger Terminal Amsterdam, terminal d'embarquement pour paquebots. Elle croise entre autres le Jan Schaeferbrug, qui assure la liaison avec Java-eiland.

After the quiet early evening hours, Amsterdam's streets and squares get again very busy at night. At the back of the Dam square, the whole area of town called Red Light District is always invaded by large groups of tourists walking in the streets and looking at the windows with the girls. Nearby small restaurants and cafes are full of people. Around Leidseplein you will find the Stadsschouwburg (City theatre) and other theatres, lots of cafes, restaurants, cinemas, the casino, the Lido theatre with live entertainment and the famed cultural and music centers, Sugar Factory, Paradiso and Melkweg offering a varied music program: rock, pop, dance, rap and world music, including big-name bands. Another busy area of clubs, cafes and cinemas is Rembrandtplein. The square is surrounded by the cafes and clubs always full of guests.
